Welcome to the York Chess Clubs website
The York Chess League exists to promote chess in the city of York.
We run a two-division local evening league, featuring teams from seven different clubs. It's also possible to play chess on Saturdays in the Yorkshire League for the York R.I. Chess Club.
Chess is very well supported in York for a city of its size, and punches far above its weight when compared to bigger cities in Yorkshire, eg. Leeds, Sheffield.
